The Time Has Come – You're Going Surfing!
The time has come! You’ve finally signed up for your first surf camp or booked that long-awaited surf lesson—and the stoke is real!
We know that the beginning of your surf journey can feel a little overwhelming. What should you bring? What’s essential, and what can you leave behind? To help ease the stress and get you ready to hit the waves with confidence, we’ve created this simple, practical packing list—perfect for anyone heading to a surf camp for beginners.
Swimsuit
Women – Choose something snug and secure. Trust us—waves don’t care if it’s your favorite bikini, they’ll try to take it with them. A sporty two-piece or one-piece is your best friend in the water.
Men – Boardshorts that won’t slide off when you wipe out are key. Opt for ones with a drawstring.
Sunscream
You’ll be in the water for a while, and that sun is relentless. Go for a high-SPF, water-resistant, reef-safe sunscreen. Apply it at least 20 minutes before your session—especially to your face, neck, ears, and the back of your legs.
Extras You’ll Thank Yourself For
Towel – A quick-dry travel towel is perfect.
Water Bottle – Stay hydrated before and after your session.
Flip-flops / Sandals – Easy to kick off before hitting the beach.
Hair tie or headband – If you’ve got long hair, keep it out of your face.
Change of clothes – Dry, comfy clothes for after your session.
Small backpack or tote – To carry all of the above.
That’s It – You’re Ready to Paddle Out 🏄
Keep it simple, keep it light, and remember—no one gets it perfect the first time. Surfing is all about fun, flow, and falling (a lot). You’re going to love it.
